Science Centre ~ Jan 2011

This Guy Met Us At The Entrance
Today we joined a group of homeschoolers at the Science Centre to see the Dinos Alive Exhibition. It was great and I had so much fun. There was so much to see and do and touch! The Centre has recently been renovated and its looking so much better!

Butterfly Mania ~ Butterfly Park Lake Gardens 08.01.11

The butterfly counts not months but moments, and has time enough.  ~Rabindranath Tagore

Look what we spotted first! It was huge... as big as my finger!

Pretty little miss

Whaddya lookin' at?

Dragonfly in Motion

A TIGER butterfly Mom!! Look!!!

I've watched you now a full half-hour;
Self-poised upon that yellow flower
And, little Butterfly!  Indeed
I know not if you sleep or feed.
How motionless! - not frozen seas
More motionless! and then
What joy awaits you, when the breeze
Hath found you out among the trees,
And calls you forth again!
~William Wordsworth, "To a Butterfly"

Check out his EYES Mama!!

This one is my friend Mama!

Thrilled at last!
But these are flowers that fly and all but sing:
And now from having ridden out desire
They lie closed over in the wind and cling
Where wheels have freshly sliced the April mire.
~Robert Frost, "Blue-Butterfly Day"

The Zoo ~ 02.01.2011

Today we went to the zoo, but really I only wanted to see butterflies.
This beautiful one landed on me and I was thrilled!
This gorgeous lady flew on to me and stayed on me for half an hour!

Till I put it back on the flowers to feed as we were leaving.

My collection of dead butterflies. So sad. Wish they were still alive..

An Adventure Into A Land Unknown ~ 05.01.11

Today we joined a group of 'Unschoolers & Homeschoolers'
at the TTDI Park where we had not been for the longest time.
We started off in the stream looking for tiny fish, tadpoles and shiny stones.
I met a nice friend, Adrian and we played for 2 hours together in the stream!
After Adrian left, we joined the rest of the group and had a picnic. It must've been my lucky day because someone brought cupcakes with my name written all over them!
Then, someone celebrated a birthday and I got more cake!
I love this group!

But now I'm outta here! Adios Amigoes!

( Mummy's Musings ~ the 'other world' of 'Unschooling & Homeschooling' is totally new to me. I am however, very curious and very interested in this 'revolution'. Some of the children at this meeting appeared to be brighter, more confident and certainly not deprived in any way for lack of being 'formally schooled'.  I know I am highly incapable of tutoring Cahaya beyond the toddler years but am amazed at some of these parents who have/are doing it and are successful.. I may consider a blend of it in the near future... lets' see what the future holds ... )
